Lexi Young*

Lexi Young began her dance training in Missouri and Ohio, focusing on ballet and modern techniques. She began teaching dance while training in high school, where she discovered a passion for empowering young movers. At Lindenwood University, she was a Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate in Dance with a specialization in Contemporary and a minor in Adapted Sports and Recreation, where she studied contemporary and modern dance under Tricia Zweier and Mariko Kumanomido. During her time at Lindenwood, Lexi choreographed works for three side stage productions as well as a main stage production, further developing her voice as an artist.

Her co-choreographed film, Carousel, created in collaboration with a cinematography program, reflects her passion for interdisciplinary work. This summer, she was selected as a Rising Choreographer for Sarasota Contemporary Dance Company. She has also attended prestigious intensives with Regional Dance America, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and Saint Louis Dance Theater, crediting these experiences as instrumental in the growth of her artistry and technique.

In addition to her studies, Lexi teaches at Pure Barre, integrating fitness and strength training into her dance practice. She aspires to work with youth with disabilities, using dance as a means of empowerment and inclusion.
